Thank you for your interest in our grant program.
The Lenfest Next Generation Fund will provide stipends of up to $1,200 to journalists of color based in the Greater Philadelphia Area to attend to one professional conference of their choosing from a curated list of prestigious national conferences.
Both professional and student journalists, are welcome to apply.
The Lenfest Next Generation Fund is an initiative funded by the Lenfest Institute for Journalism. This program is part of Lenfest’s broader Diversity Equity and Inclusion work and it hopes to address systemic talent development challenges that journalists of color face in the industry. Our ideal candidate will be a student of journalism or a journalist that lives or works in the city of Philadelphia and identifies as an individual of color and/or an underrepresented group in newsrooms. The Fund would cover up to $1,200 of attendance and travel-related expenses to one of our pre-selected and vetted professional journalism conferences.
Please note that this application is only open to journalists who live and work in the Greater Philadelphia area. While answering all questions are not required, doing so increases your chances of funding. Completing this application does not guarantee funding.
The following short application will help us learn more about your proposal. For more details, please go to https://www.lenfestinstitute.org/lenfest-next-generation-fund/.
Please complete your application by January 31st, 2020.
